~ 'Bippity Bop' preemie baby cocoon ~

Materials:
- 2 1/2 oz. Bernat Dippity Dots in teal
- J hook

Size:  7 1/2" x 11"

Notes:
- I crochet a little tight, so you may need to adjust the size of your crochet hook
- the ch 2 at the beginning of Rnds 1 and 2 do not count as a stitch
- v-st= (dc, ch 1, dc)
- small shell = (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc)
- large shell = (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc)

Notes about Bernat Dippity Dots:
- this is a size 'medium 4' yarn
- it is an acrylic/nylon/polyester blend
- this yarn is tricky to work with because of the little pom-pom dots
- and also because of the little pom-pom dots, it's very hard to unravel if you make a mistake

Directions:
Rnd 1:  Ch 3 (make the 1st ch a little loose), work 12 dc in the 3rd ch from the hook.  Join with a sl st to the 1st dc.  (12 dc)

Rnd 2:  Ch 2, 2 dc in same dc as the joining st.  2 dc in each dc around.  Join as before.  (24 dc)

Rnd 3:  (ch 3, dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in same dc as the joining st, skip next dc, v-st in next dc, skip next dc.  *small shell in next dc, skip next dc, v-st in next dc, skip next dc.  Repeat from * around.  Join with a sl st to top of beginning ch 3.

Rnd 4:  Sl st over to ch-1 space, (ch 3, dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in same space, ch 1, v-st in next v-st, ch 1.  *small shell in next small shell, ch 1, v-st in next v-st, ch 1.  Repeat from * around.  Join as before.

Rnd 5:  Sl st over to ch-1 space, (ch 3, 2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in same space, small shell in next v-st.  *large shell in next small shell, small shell in next v-st.  Repeat from * around.  Join as before.

Rnds 6 - 19:  Sl st over to ch-1 space, (ch 3, 2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in same space, small shell in next small shell.  *large shell in next large shell, small shell in next small shell.  Repeat from * around.  Join as before.

Rnd 20:  Ch 1, sc in same st as the joining st.  Sc in each dc around with 2 sc in each ch-1 space.  Join with a sl st to the 1st sc.  End off.

  5. So cute, Debi. Love the yarn, but I have a feeling I wouldn't have the patience to work with that particular kind. It sure did work up cute for your cocoon! Thanks for sharing your pattern with us. :)
